Explora II Cruise - February, 2026
Day 8 – St. John
Wednesday, February 11
The seas were pretty rough again this morning and as we were walking to the coffee machine on Deck 11 (at 2:41AM), we noticed large waves in the Conservatory pool that were crashing violently at the end of the pool:
And here it is again at 7:30AM. You can see the pool lost about a foot and a half of water:
Today was the only port that didn't have a cruise-ship dock, so we headed down to the Journeys Lounge at 9:00 and exchanged our excursion tickets for number cards. We had Group 1 and we were called almost immediately, then proceeded downstairs and boarded our tender:
Here's the description of today's shore excursion:
We met our guides right at the dock and they passed out bottles of water and walking sticks for those that needed them. Then after a quick restroom break, we ascended up some stairs and started the hike:
The hike was about a mile over some pretty rocky terrain.
As it turned out, due to the earlier bad weather, Salomon Beach was a no-go, so our guide took us a little further up the trail to Honeymoon Beach.
Someone was renting beach chairs here for $10/each, but we only had an hour and they asked us not to get in the water because of a rip tide, so, huh, we decided to grab a drink (no food available) and head back on our own.
This empty box made me laugh. I guess don't plan on having any heart issues while you are at Honeymoon Beach:
We checked in with the guides and then made our way back down the trail:
We wandered around the port area a bit, but there really wasn't much as far as shopping opportunities, so we hopped back on a waiting tender and returned to the ship.
Final step count for Day 8:
